SOLETOP establishes MoU with Space Science and Engineering Center of U.S.
2021-08-23
SOLETOP has established a Memorandum of Understanding with the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States.
With an existing agreement between the Korean Meteorological Agency (KMA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the U.S., this new partnership will further enable collaborative activities between the two countries related to satellite data processing technology, weather and climate algorithm development and applications, and scholar exchange.

SSEC is an internationally known research and development center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a history of remote sensing innovation spanning more than 50 years. The Center is a world leader in developing the algorithms and designing the ground and archive systems necessary to process atmospheric data collected from geostationary and polar satellite platforms.According to SSEC scientist Dr. Allen Huang, the liaison to Soletop, SSEC is a critical partner with NOAA, developing more than 30 of the algorithms for GOES-R, the next generation weather satellite in the U.S. scheduled for launch in 2016.The Center’s expertise in working with the GOES-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) will be applied directly to the Advanced Meteorological Imager (AMI) scheduled for launch on KMA‘s Communication, Oceanography and Meteorology Satellite (COMS) II.

SOLETOP is an industry leader in satellite remote sensing of ocean, land, and space environments and related product development. “We are honored to further develop the shared technological interests between SOLETOP and SSEC,” said Huang. “We look forward to working collaboratively in areas of mutual benefit and for the benefit of society.”
